Suburban Connect is a consortium of global leaders in tunnelling including CPB Contractors, Ghella and Acciona Construction delivering the Tunnels South package on Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) East, on behalf of Suburban Rail Loop Authority (SRLA).

We have a broad range of roles available to build our diverse and inclusive workforce, including construction and engineering, planning and environmental management, corporate support, administration, communications and many others.

SRL East from Cheltenham to Box Hill is now under construction, with tunnelling to start in 2026 and trains to be running by 2035.

Suburban Connect is constructing the 16kms of tunnels between Cheltenham and Glen Waverley using 4 tunnel boring machines and a range of excavation methods. The works also include 55 cross passages, 2 tunnel portal structures, 2 station box excavations and associated supports.

About the Opportunity

To contribute to the design team’s delivery of robust and cost-effective designs for works while ensuring that scope, budget and programme are met

 

The key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Ensure that the design activities are properly coordinated in respect to inter-discipline and functional interface issues.
  • Review designs in line with statutory and legislative, construction and operational requirements.
  • Facilitate the resolution of any design issues from a technical and/or construction perspective.
  • Monitor any design issues which may arise out of defect rectification, value engineering or interface with external bodies.
  • Review and arrange construction support including design team inspection and supervision as required.

Monitor and assist in any Design Change Requests.

 

We are looking for someone with:

  • A bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline from a recognised tertiary institution.
  • Commercial Acumen.

  • Project management skills with the ability to work on projects with multiple participants and stakeholders.

  • Ability to respond to significant demands quickly and accurately and adapt to complex environments, Ability to hand high stress environments with resilience.
