The CPB Contractors, Ghella & UGL joint venture has been successful in securing the contract to deliver the $3.1bn M6 Stage 1 project.  The project will deliver the missing link from Sydney’s south to the wider Sydney motorway network making journeys easier, faster and safer. It will remove more than 2,000 trucks a day from surface roads and help return local streets to local communities.

With works commenced in early 2022, the M6 Stage 1 project scope includes the construction of twin four-kilometre tunnels and associated works, linking the M8 Motorway at Arncliffe to President Avenue at Kogarah.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Senior Safety Advisor with a strong Mechanical and Electrical background to join our Safety team on the M6 Stage 1 Project. The role will be responsible for providing leadership and coordination of Safety practices, systems and procedures.

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of a positive safety culture across the project
  • Provide high-level safety expertise to mechanical & electrical project staff, workers and subcontractors
  • Undertake serious incident investigations, critical risk reviews, audits, inspections, task observations etc trends
  • Lead and monitor compliance with safety and also environmental policy, procedures and legislative requirements
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits and, prepare monthly data and reports as required
  • Conduct and facilitate Safety educational programs

About You

  • Considerable experience working on major/large infrastructure projects specifically within a Mechanical & Electrical scope
  • Tertiary qualifications in OH&S – preferably Advanced Diploma or higher
  • The ability to build and maintain strong relationships within teams and with individuals
  • The ability to work autonomously and as a team

The successful candidate will be required to hold a current Construction Industry Induction Card (White Card or equivalent) and undergo a medical assessment (including drug and alcohol testing) prior to commencement.
