The CPB Contractors, Ghella & UGL joint venture has been successful in securing the contract to deliver the $2.6bn M6 Stage 1 project.  The project will deliver the missing link from Sydney’s south to the wider Sydney motorway network making journeys easier, faster and safer. It will remove more than 2,000 trucks a day from surface roads and help return local streets to local communities.

With works commenced in early 2022, the M6 Stage 1 Project scope includes the construction of twin four-kilometre tunnels and associated works, linking the M8 Motorway at Arncliffe to President Avenue at Kogarah.

The Project 

We are seeking a passionate and professional Safety Coordinator to join a supportive team on the M6 Stage 1 Project. This role will be a maximum fixed term 12-month position, responsible for proactively facilitating, implementing and supporting the delivery of all WH&S policies and procedures on site, and driving a positive safety culture.  

The responsibilities of this role will include but not be limited to;

  • Conducting daily site inspections in the tunnel, reviews and audits
  • Assisting in the delivery of Toolbox Talks
  • Reviewing Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) and Subcontractor documentation
  • Building relationships with the frontline construction team
  • Assisting with incident reporting and investigations
  • Preparation of reports for internal & external stakeholders where required
  • Developing and maintaining Health & Safety records and systems

About You

The successful candidate will have:

  • A Tertiary qualification in OH&S
  • Experience working on major/large projects
  • A dynamic and energetic personality who flourishes when working as a team member and has no difficulty in working autonomously

The successful candidate will be required to hold a current Construction Industry Induction Card (White Card or equivalent) and undergo a medical assessment (including drug and alcohol testing) prior to commencement.
