The West Gate Tunnel Project is a partnership between the Victorian Government and Transurban. The Joint Venture was chosen as the head contractor for construction, with works commencing in 2018 and scheduled for completion in 2025.

About the Project

The West Gate Tunnel Project is a city-shaping project that will deliver a vital alternative to the West Gate Bridge, provide quicker and safer journeys, and remove thousands of trucks off residential streets. The Project includes:

  • Approximately 7km of double lane tunnels, taking over 9000 trucks over local streets in Melbourne’s west.
  • Widening the West Gate Freeway from 8 to 12 lanes, with the construction of over 9km of noise walls.
  • The construction of elevated roadway and ramps along Footscray Road, providing new connections into CityLink, Dynon Road, Footscray Road and the port.
  • Over 9 ha of landscaping opportunities across the Project’s footprint.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Document Controller to join our team at West Gate Tunnel Project and be a key member of a high performing Document Control team as we push into the Project Completions Phase.

Being involved in a Project of this incredible scale and complexity through to completion of the works is an opportunity unlike most others across the industry. This role will be located in our Docklands office and report directly to the Document Control Manager and will be accountable for the following:

  • Implementing and leading document control processes.
  • Work collaboratively with the other Document Controllers and provide leadership and support to all staff.
  • Ensure document submissions are in accordance and compliant with the Project document formats and requirements.
  • Implement established workflows and collate, issue and receive documents in accordance with Project requirements for the development, review and approval of design documentation and all other procedures, instructions, product certification and records that are subject to review and approval.
  • Record document flow to and from all necessary parties, including clients, sub-contractors and the project office.
  • Record issues and track location of control documents and drawings.
  • Ensure current versions are maintained of all documents subject to revision and ensure current versions of documents are issued to required project parties.
  • Storage and archiving of project and organisational records.  
  • Ensure the documents are managed in strict confidentiality.  

About You

  • A team player who enjoys working as part of a team.
  • Ability to manage a high volume of document control requests, while maintaining focus on detail and accuracy.
  • Advanced document control experience within the design and construction industry.
  • Advance knowledge and experience working in Aconex. Experience in TeamBinder is preferred, but not mandatory.
  • Knowledge with project management systems and processes.
