HumeLink West Project

Two CIMIC Group companies, UGL and CPB Contractors have been selected by Transgrid to deliver the 140km western section of the HumeLink high voltage electricity transmission project.

HumeLink is a new 500kV transmission project which will connect Wagga Wagga, Maragle and Bannaby in regional NSW that will significantly increase the capacity of the electricity network in Australia’s eastern states. HumeLink is one of Australia’s largest energy infrastructure projects, with about 365kms of proposed new transmission lines and a range of other new and upgraded infrastructure.

The HumeLink West scope of works, worth $1.4bn, includes delivery of new 500kV double circuit transmission lines spanning 140kms from Wagga Wagga Substation to a new Substation at Gugaa, the Interface Point with HumeLink East near Gundagai and a new substation at Maragle in the Snowy Mountains for future connection to Snowy 2.0.  

 

The opportunity

Reporting to the Plant & Logistics Manager, we are currently seeking an experienced Plant & Logistics Superintendent with a background in delivery of major projects, to join our team, taking ownership of the plant and logistics function supporting the wider project.

Please note this role will initially be based in Sydney (CBD), with transition into a site delivery role requiring DIDO/FIFO (10/4) or relocation where additional allowances will apply.   

Key responsibilities

  • To manage the on-site operations of the Plant and Logistics function including safety, compliance, environmental, quality, and cost.
  • Manage plant in accordance with manufacturers’ recommendations and the HLWJV’s Plant Maintenance System
  • Coordinate project requirements with project supervisors, ensuring all materials and hardware are delivered to tower pads ahead of work crews.
  • Effective utilization, availability, and cost effectiveness
  • Manage the inspection, onboarding and compliance of all Plant and equipment
  • Manage site logistics with support from the Logistics Manger to meet inbound and outbound delivery requirements
  • Ensure workshop and laydown areas are maintained to high housekeeping standards.
  • Manage the efficient completion of maintenance tasks & reduction of break down repairs
  • Establish priorities for the repair of equipment to achieve project targets.
  • Work in accordance and demonstrate commitment to the Project’s Culture & Values.
  • Effective management of subcontractors              
  • Maintain accurate daily diaries, recording on-site resources, productivity, attendance, and overall working hours

 

What We Expect You to Bring to the Team:

  • Minimum 12 years of relevant experience, including at least 2 years as a Senior Supervisor. Experience working in a plant and logistics role, preferably with large infrastructure projects.
  • Trade certificate in Heavy diesel or equivalent
  • Ability to coordinate and prioritize team activities within a multi-discipline project.
  • Strong commercial experience, including planning up to 1 month ahead and monitoring cost and time resources within your area of accountability.
  • Proven ability to manage others in conducting SHEQ processes and ensuring compliance.
  • Team building and coaching, client focus, planning and organizing, negotiation and influencing, problem-solving, conflict management, relationship management, communication, and commercial focus/business acumen.

The successful candidate will be required to hold a current Construction Industry Induction Card (White Card or equivalent) and undergo a medical assessment (including drug and alcohol testing) prior to commencement.
