HumeLink West Project

Two CIMIC Group companies, UGL and CPB Contractors have been selected by Transgrid to deliver the 130km western section of the HumeLink high voltage electricity transmission project.

HumeLink is a new 500kV transmission project which will connect Wagga Wagga, Maragle and Bannaby in regional NSW that will significantly increase the capacity of the electricity network in Australia’s eastern states. HumeLink is one of Australia’s largest energy infrastructure projects, with about 365kms of proposed new transmission lines and a range of other new and upgraded infrastructure.

The HumeLink West scope of works, worth $1.4bn, includes delivery of new 500kV double circuit transmission lines spanning 130kms from Wagga Wagga Substation to a new Substation at Gugaa, the Interface Point with HumeLink East near Gundagai and a new substation at Maragle in the Snowy Mountains for future connection to Snowy 2.0.  

 

The Opportunity

 

We are currently seeking applications for a Procurement Officer.  Reporting to the Procurement Manager and based in Sydney CBD, this role will be responsible for assisting with the procurement of construction subcontractors and suppliers.

Please note this role will be based in Sydney for the duration of the project supporting the HumeLink West delivery team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Co-ordinate start to end tender process, including Request For Tender preparation, tender list preparation, issuing to tender, managing of tender request for information, completing bid evaluations, holding post tender interview, preparing recommendation for awards.
  • Coordinate supplier negotiations and finalise agreements and purchase orders in accordance with set procedures and Delegations of Authority
  • Ensure adherence to contractual obligations through effective commercial management, including warranties and flow down of contract amendments
  • Facilitate and maintain effective working relationships with suppliers, engaging with key stakeholders to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach
  • Identify and manage supplier risks and opportunities, including those of the suppliers' supply chains.
  • Maintain an accurate procurement schedule of progress conducted, and planning of procurement activities in the future.
  • Follow the procurement policies and processes as determined by the Procurement and Supply function, ensuring compliance with the relevant acts, legal demands and ethical standards. 

 About You

To be successful in this role the candidate will have the following skills, experience and demonstrate the below competencies:

  • Several years experience within a Project Procurement role in a construction or manufacturing environment;
  • Project site experience;
  • Demonstrated experience in achieving positive outcomes through effective negotiation;
  • Demonstrated skills working with ERP systems
  • Willingness work in a variety of work environments including construction sites
  • Understanding of financial and budgetary processes
  • Demonstrated ability in contributing to the development of procurement plans.

 

The successful candidate will be required to hold a current Construction Industry Induction Card (White Card or equivalent) and undergo a medical assessment (including drug and alcohol testing) prior to commencement.

Where applicable, evidence of tertiary qualifications and proof of right to work will be required prior to successful appointment.
