The purpose of the TasWater Capital Delivery Office (CDO) is to ensure cost-effective and timely delivery of quality capital works projects for TasWater that will meet the needs of TasWater’s business, their stakeholders and the communities of Tasmania for years to come. The TasWater CDO manages the TasWater Capital Works Program from inception to completion including the planning, design, procurement, and delivery phases.

We are proud of our great team here at TasWater (CDO) and are on the lookout for an experienced Project Engineer who will contribute to the development and delivery of our current long term TasWater CDO projects. Our projects are based across the state of Tasmania, some including the Selfs Point Sewage Treatment Plant Expansion Project, Tamar Estuary River Health Action Plan Project (TERHAP), Bicheno Recycled Water Scheme, Regional Towns Water Supply Project, Smithton Sewage Pump Station Upgrade & Pet Dam Safety Upgrade.

This exciting role is for the Tamar Estuary River Health Action Plan Project (TERHAP) and would be based out of Launceston, Tasmania. Should you need to relocate to Tasmania to take up the opportunity with us, relocation assistance is available.

About the project:

This transformative pipeline project, which is one of the largest infrastructure projects of its type in the southern hemisphere, will increase our capacity to transfer sewage and stormwater, significantly reducing the frequency and volume of overflow events.

Major construction works are underway in areas near our Margaret Street Pump Station, along the western foreshore (Trevallyn area) and at our Ti Tree Bend Sewage Treatment Plant at Invermay.

About the role:

  • The Project Engineer is responsible for providing engineering and coordination support for the design, supply, installation and testing of the project. The primary challenge of this position is to ensure the projects are completed in a timely and cost-effective manner to meet contractual arrangements made with the client.
  • Review and plan the project with the Project Manager to ensure technical aspects of the job are clear and to become familiar with contractual arrangements made with the client.
  • Develop scope of works required for RFT (Request for Tender) and RFQ (Request for Quote) documentation insuring documents include all necessary technical specification and references.
  • Prepare and management of procurement packages including design, supply and installation lump sum and schedule of rates.
  • Coordinate with designer and suppliers in the development of design solutions.
  • Liaise with Construction Manager/Project Manager to ensure the job is on schedule.
  • Provide a focal point for all technical based queries for associated subcontractors/suppliers.
