What can our construction projects build for you?

CPB Contractors along with our industry partners has been selected as preferred proponent to deliver two major packages for the Cross River Rail Projects: the Tunnel, Stations and Development (TSD) package and the Rail, Integration and Systems (RIS) package. Cross River Rail is a new 10.2 kilometre rail line from Dutton Park to Bowen Hills, which includes 5.9 kilometres of tunnel under the Brisbane River and the CBD.

The RIS package is crucial to the overall delivery and success of Cross River Rail, and its integration with the Queensland Rail network.  RIS will be delivered by the UNITY Alliance which brings CPB Contractors, UGL, AECOM and Jacobs together with partners HASSEL, RCS Australia, Acmena, Martinus Rail and WIRED Overhead Solutions to deliver the full scope of works over the next five years. This includes:

  • Rail civil and electrical works
  • Brownfield rail surface works primarily to the north of the tunnel, including an upgrade of Exhibition Station and a major augmentation of Mayne Yard
  • Upgrade ofseven suburban stations to the south and a major augmentation of Clapham Yard
  • Rail operational systems works
  • Rail signalling works and communication, and integration and commission activities.

Your Opportunity

Reporting to the Environment Manager, CPB Contractors are currently seeking a Senior Environmental Advisor. Responsibilities will include:

  • Auditing, amending and implementation of the Construction Environmental Management Plans
  • Providing sound and timely technical advice, training and assistance to the project
  • Supporting the Environment Manager and design team in reviewing the Environmental Design Deliverables for the Work Packages
  • Maintaining a positive and outcome driven relationship with key project team members such as the Client representatives, the Independent Monitor and senior project management and supervision teams
  • Participating in internal and external Audits
  • Participating in key multi-disciplinary review, planning and construction meetings
  • Coordination of technical deliverables associated with matters such as contaminated land, acid sulfate soils, erosion and sediment control
  • Undertaking field inspections and audits on environmental performance criteria, compliance and defects and responding to Incidents
  • Coaching and mentoring the more junior members in the environmental team

Minimum requirements for this role include the following:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Planning, Sustainability or associated disciplines
  • Prior experience in a similar position within the construction industry
  • Current CPESC accreditation preferred
  • Cost, program and subcontractor management experience desired
  • Excellent attention to detail with up-to-date knowledge of all relevant legal, regulatory environmental requirements
  • Demonstrated effective on the ground problem solving techniques and skills to drive delivery of project outcomes
  • Hold proven verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with an ability to develop and maintain relationships across diverse stakeholders
  • Lateral thinker with the ability to critically interrogate information
  • Focus and commitment to a zero harm environment
