The Opportunity

The team currently has an opportunity for an enthusiastic and driven CA-qualified accountant with audit experience to continue the improvement of financial reporting systems and quality of financial reporting.

Reporting to the Finance Manager – Corporate Accounting, your role will include but not limited to the following:

  • Monthly financial reporting – Preparation of detailed schedules within the CPB legal entity OneStream pack, to ensure accurate presentation and classification of balance sheet and profit and loss accounts.
  • Monthly financial reporting – Preparation of individual entity OneStream packs for CPB Group subsidiaries and joint operations.
  • Analysis and Commentary – Undertake analysis and provide commentary on key balance sheet and profit and loss accounts (including liaising with Business Units, and ownership of explanations) for inclusion in monthly commentary submission to parent entity.
  • Audit support – Liaise with Auditors, answering their queries and providing support on a timely basis.
  • Balance Sheet Control Framework – Assisting with ensuring compliance with the CPB Balance Sheet Control Framework, including preparation of monthly Corporate balance sheet reconciliations and assisting with review of Business Unit reconciliations across the group.
  • Process improvement – Continually challenge the processes and systems in place to ensure optimum efficiency, automation and quality of financial reporting process.
  • Financial statements – Assist with preparation of financial statements of CPB Contractors legal entity and other subsidiaries.
  • Project work – Assist with ad-hoc project work as and when required, including initiatives for process improvements.
  • Collaboration – Work with other divisions of Group Finance to streamline processes.

Our minimum requirements for this role are:

To be successful in this role the candidate will have the following skills, and experience and demonstrate the below competencies:

  • First or second movers from the Big 4 or Top Tier Accounting firms (from an Audit background)
  • A self-starter with a challenging mindset and desire for improvement
  • Strong attention to detail, yet ability to see the big picture
  • Adaptability to new accounting systems and processes
  • High level of competency in using Microsoft Office tools (esp. Excel), with ability to identify efficiencies and automation
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
  • Understanding of ASIC and ATO requirements whilst not essential will be advantageous for the role
  • Working knowledge of JDE, PowerBI and OneStream whilst not essential will be advantageous for the role.
