HumeLink West Project

Two CIMIC Group companies, UGL and CPB Contractors have been selected by Transgrid to deliver the 130km western section of the HumeLink high voltage electricity transmission project.

HumeLink is a new 500kV transmission project which will connect Wagga Wagga, Maragle and Bannaby in regional NSW that will significantly increase the capacity of the electricity network in Australia’s eastern states. HumeLink is one of Australia’s largest energy infrastructure projects, with about 365kms of proposed new transmission lines and a range of other new and upgraded infrastructure.

The HumeLink West scope of works, worth $1.4bn, includes delivery of new 500kV double circuit transmission lines spanning 130kms from Wagga Wagga Substation to a new Substation at Gugaa, the Interface Point with HumeLink East near Gundagai and a new substation at Maragle in the Snowy Mountains for future connection to Snowy 2.0.  

The opportunity

Reporting to the Property & Interface Manager, the Land Access Coordinator role will provide the critical landowner facing and engagement function, ensuring that the project delivery teams have the required land and site access they need. In addition, role will need to ensure that mitigation measures are in place to minimise the impact of the construction activities to all landowners and local communities.

Your responsibilities in the role will include:

  • Taking the lead in all landowner engagements and property negotiations
  • Building positive and respectful relationships with landowners and local communities impacted by the project
  • Ability to have open and honest communication with impacted landowners and local communities about the project, their individual needs and impact of the scheduled construction activities
  • Timely coordination of land and property access requests, notices and enquiries with landowners, project teams and sub-contractors
  • Overseeing the implementation of and adherence by all sub-contractors and third parties to the client’s Property Management Plans relating to each individual property holding
  • Be the first point of contact for all property related escalated issues and complaints for resolution
  • Updating client’s property records and maintaining site specific records
  • Participating in client and sub-contractor project meetings
  • Adherence to the organisation’s health and safety protocols/requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Local area knowledge and deep understanding of local key drivers
  • Strong agricultural/rural background
  • Ability to build strong relationships with landowners and communities in the area
  • Experience dealing and negotiating positive outcomes with small communities and agricultural landowners
  • Ability to coordinate, prioritise and manage multiple tasks
  • Experience in dealing with Councils & Utility service providers regarding permit applications and approvals will be essential
  • Knowledge of real estate/property management contracts and terms
  • To be a strong team player
  • Willingness to travel

The successful candidate will be required to hold a current Construction Industry Induction Card (White Card or equivalent) and undergo a medical assessment (including drug and alcohol testing) prior to commencement.

Where applicable, evidence of tertiary qualifications and proof of right to work will be required prior to successful appointment.
