The Project

The CPB Contractors, Ghella & UGL joint venture has been successful in securing the contract to deliver the $3.1bn M6 Stage 1 project.  The project will deliver the missing link from Sydney’s south to the wider Sydney motorway network making journeys easier, faster and safer. It will remove more than 2,000 trucks a day from surface roads and help return local streets to local communities.

With works having commenced in early 2022, the M6 Stage 1 project scope includes the construction of twin four-kilometer tunnels and associated works, linking the M8 Motorway at Arncliffe to President Avenue at Kogarah.

The Opportunity

The M6 Project has exciting opportunities for experienced Tunnelling Shift Bosses Pavement experience to join our team. Reporting to the Tunnelling Superintendent, this role will be responsible for the following:

  • Planning and delivering work on time and within budget
  • Management and tracking of costs; including materials, plant and equipment
  • Managing and leading workforce crews
  • Conduct daily prestart and weekly toolbox meetings
  • Participate in the development of and ensure the implementation, monitoring and documentation of SWMS’s and Procedures;
  • Management of compliance with respect to quality, safety and environment

 About You

  • Demonstrated experience working on major tunnel infrastructure construction projects
  • Demonstrate experience managing a team and show proven results best for company
  • Proven experience demonstrating pro-active maintenance in a high-pressure environment
  • Experience working in underground environments and with tunnelling plant and equipment
  • Demonstrated experience complying with and driving a positive safety culture
  • Willingness to provide coaching, training, and mentoring to project team

The successful candidate will be required to hold a current Construction Industry Induction Card (White Card or equivalent) and undergo a medical assessment (including drug and alcohol testing) prior to commencement.
