The Project

CPB Contractors and Downer EDI Works in a joint venture have been successful in securing the $1.18 billion design and construction contract for the Warringah Freeway upgrade. This crucial upgrade will make the Warringah Freeway more efficient and reliable through upgrading four kilometres of the Warringah Freeway, between High Street at North Sydney and Willoughby Road at Naremburn, works also include connections to the future Western Harbour Tunnel and Beaches Link tunnel projects.

The Warringah Freeway is one of the nation’s busiest and most complex road corridors and as Sydney continues to grow, the upgrade will make trips more efficient and reliable for the drivers who use it every day. Works are scheduled to commence late 2021 with the main work to start early next year. Construction is expected to take approximately five years to complete.  

The opportunity

Reporting to the Quality Manager, you will be responsible for the management and facilitation of all site-specific quality assurance requirements and providing day-to-day support to project team members to ensure that specified project quality requirements are met.

Your responsibilities in the role will include:

  • Actively develop/recommend inspections, sample techniques, quality control plans, process control procedures & test analysis to ensure that products meet specifications and standards
  • Pro-actively document quality issues and performance measures for management review
  • Prepare audit reports summarising production and quality issues together with recommending corrective actions
  • Educate stakeholders/line managers on quality benchmarks for the project
  • Administer the relevant systems utilised for monitoring and documenting quality issues/actions
  • Monitor and communicate quality standards on the project
  • Provide technical advice/assistance to management for quality-related activities
  • Understand compliance/reporting procedures and processes
  • Perform all duties in accordance with John Holland policies, processes, systems and procedures

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Tertiary qualification preferably in Civil Engineering
  • Internal Auditor and/or Lead Auditor qualifications highly desirable
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role working on large construction projects
  • Experience in project management is highly regarded
  • Be confident managing multiple stakeholders at all levels
  • Collaborative team player and the ability to work effectively in a complex demanding environment
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
