About the role

Thiess has a Planning and Stores Superintendent role available, reporting to the Maintenance Manager based at the Curragh North project.  The ideal candidate will have extensive maintenance planning and engineering experience at a large scale mining operation, as well as an advanced understanding of computerised maintenance systems. You will also possess strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish effective working relationships with key internal and external clients.

Some of your duties will include:

  • Managing the scheduled servicing/maintenance planning and ensuring compliance with all safety and statutory requirements;
  • Managing and developing the Maintenance Planning Team to cover the planning requirements of long-term components, field equipment, workshop equipment, ancillary equipment, light vehicles and NPI.
  • Managing the maintenance engineering team by providing assistance and direction on plant and infrastructure modifications to improve safety and equipment performance;
  • Managing warehouse team and developing and improving warehouse/ inventory management processes.
  • Managing the Tyre and Ancillary maintenance teams;
  • Monitoring and maintaining the on-site Maintenance Management System;
  • Delivering weekly maintenance budget tracking reports;
  • Ensuring weekly plans are reviewed by the Planning team, alongside the Maintenance Superintendents and Supervisors. Ensure 48-hour plan is updated and communicated daily to the Maintenance Execution team;
  • Developing and improving existing planning systems and process;
  • Identifying and implementing cost reduction opportunities;
  • Improving fleet reliability through the effective use of condition monitoring data provided by offsite reliability support teams;

The Curragh North project is situated outside of Blackwater, in Central Queensland. 

About you

  • Mechanical/ Electrical Trade or Tertiary Qualifications;
  • Experience in coaching, mentoring and working with employees from both Trade and Engineering backgrounds;
  • Strong understanding of maintenance planning processes within mining in the mobile maintenance field;
  • A proven record of undertaking engineering reviews that result in improvements to equipment and processes.

Roster and Conditions

  • 5 days on 2 days off roster - Monday to Friday with monthly RDO’s
  • Full Camp Facilities – accommodation and meals provided
  • Permanent full-time position with 5 weeks of annual leave
