The Senior Analyst will support the EGM and Managers in the Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) team who are responsible for the execution of Group transactions and management of the Group’s investment portfolio, listed investments and other joint venture and associate equity interests.

A key focus of the role will be providing analytical support, specifically building transaction models and assisting with research and due diligence.


Some of your duties will include:

  • Conceptually understand the strategic positioning of CIMIC and how acquisitions, divestments and investments can support CIMIC’s growth and market position
  • Critically analyse data and third-party research reports, considering the actual or possible impact on the Group strategic position
  • Monitor industry developments, economic drivers and competitor activity relevant to investment, divestment and acquisition decisions
  • Develop and review financial models for investments, divestments or acquisitions for forecasting and evaluation purposes
  • Develop and update databases to retain market and transaction information for potential and current investments, divestments and acquisitions
  • Assist with due diligence of selected transaction opportunities
  • Deliver project, ad hoc and routine analysis to the M&A and Strategy team and other group executives as required
  • Work with operating company staff and external service providers to achieve desired outcomes


What skills and experience do you need?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance (or similar discipline)
  • Minimum 5 years' experience working as a M&A, Strategy or Financial analyst. Exposure to M&A transactions would be an advantage
  • Demonstrated understanding of company structures, reporting, legal concepts and general business acumen
  • Demonstrated experience in dealing with internal and external stakeholders
  • Present data in a way that is capable of clear communication to key stakeholders
