About the role

We have an opportunity for an experienced Health, Safety, Environment & Training (HSET) Manager to join the team based in the Bowen Basin.  

As our next HSET Manager, you will report to the Project Manager and will be responsible for driving safety strategies and initiatives that cultivate and sustain a project culture of "continuous improvement in safety".

In this role, you will:

  • Influence and provide support to your peers while developing health and safety management plans
  • Work closely with a team of dedicated safety professionals to achieve our vision of zero injuries
  • Provide hands-on, clear focused and effective leadership
  • Motivate all levels of the project to take ownership of health, safety, environment and training

The roster for this role is 5 days on, 2 days off.

About you

To be considered for this role you are required to have:

  • At least five years’ experience in a similar position with extensive experience in an operational mining environment.
  • A minimum of a diploma in OHS with tertiary qualifications in safety or a similar field being highly regarded
  • Extensive experience working with workers compensation, risk management and incident investigation

The successful applicant will also have exceptional interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to:

  • Influence and implement strategic and cultural change
  • Manage budgets, deadlines and risk within a mining or heavy industry environment
  • Implement continuous improvement methodologies
